The Mosquito B.Mk IV bomber version had a bomb load up to 2,000 lbs.
It was first delivered to the RAF 105th Squadron in November 1941. The
winter months were spent familiarising with the plywood-balsa-plywood
sandwich "wooden-wonder", very different from the Bristol Blenheim it
has replaced.
This new bomber had the manoeuvrability of a fighter and a speed not far
from 400 mph, equipped with two 1,620 hp Merlin 25 piston engines for a
maximum weight of 22,300 lbs.[/quote]
