Description Mamaya Kurgan is a massive, ancient Tartar burial tumulus in the center of the Stalingrad battleground. Today it is surmounted by the largest freestanding statue ("Mother Russia")in the world. The hill was the focus of savage fighting; the victor would hold a commanding height from which to bombard the apocalyptic battleground at its base.
This map hints at the complexity of the trench-by-trench, pillbox-by-pillbox fighting. The summit holds a bounty of fuel and munitions, but there are also opportunities for flanking attacks.
The AI (always a mystery) seems particularly aggressive on this map, especially in Annihilation mode (the only way you should play, in any event).
