Qu Rahn

Description
Here we have a character that players of the original Dark Forces games should be familiar with; Qu Rahn. Friend of Morgan Katarn, and a sort of mentor to Kyle Katarn, appearing as a force spirit after he was killed by Jerec. Qu Rahn features quite a bit in the Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight game, so there are quite a few pictures of him that I managed to find on the [url=http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Qu_Rahn]Wookieepedia Article[/url].

So, lets have a look at the accuracy of this skin first of all.

The model re-skinned here is HapSlash’s Anakin model, which I think was a very good choice for this character as the type of clothing is quite similar for both characters, which always makes things easier. I am most impressed with the face however, the texturing is very well done and fits very well over the Anakin models face. Both the texturing on the face and clothing is pretty accurate to the pictures I have seen of Qu Rahn, though I would say that the belt needs a bit more work as Rahn’s belt is a bit different to Anakin’s in style.

Although this is a pretty accurate skin, one thing I think could be improved on is the hair, it looks just too flat – there doesn’t look like there’s any texture in it. Also, from the pictures I have seen, Qu Rahn has some subtle greying areas on his beard, which I think should be added in for a bit extra depth and accuracy.

On the plus side though, this skin has bot support and also some authentic sounds from Dark Forces 2, although I was a little disappointed that there were only new sounds for the taunt and death sounds and not the pain and rolling sounds. That’s one other think I think could be added for next time.

One other thing is the team skins. Though they look ok, the colours look a bit too pale and so the red team skin looks somewhat pink. Personally I think the team colours should be a bit stronger, but that’s just me!

Overall though good work here! For fans of the original Dark Forces / Jedi Knight games this is a must download, especially since I don’t think we have ever had a Qu Rahn skin for JKA before. Though I could be mistaken there, skins are not really my speciality, so it’s a bit difficult for me to keep up with who has made what! :P
