Description
Before us today we have version 3 of Java's Random Sword Pack. Though I have not tested the previous two versions for lack of time, I have had a good look at the reviews and screenshots to see what has changed since the last time around.

The most major change is that a new sword has been added to the pack; Darth Java's Sword, which is an ingame representation of the authors own home made sword (how you home make a sword I have no idea!). This is a nice touch which adds a bit more of the authors own personality to the mod I think. Judging from the screenshot it is also an accurate representation of his real life sword, which is cool. Although I think the 'colourful' colour schemes on the other swords in the pack perhaps use a bit more artistic license than their real life counterparts which are generally much duller looking (that isn't to say you cannot get some colourfully decorated swords though!)

Also included is; a Knights Templar themed sword, a Crusader themed sword, a sword called Redemption and a Greek Hoplite sword, which I would personally say is the most realistic and true-to-life one out of the four. Although really it should be more of a bronze colour to reflect the common metal worked at the time, as opposed to this steely looking version.

All four are well modelled, although I think there could be a bit more three dimensional detail in there along with some more detailed textures, the ones used now are OK, but they do look a little flat. The author mentions that he tried to add a shader to make the blades shiny but that they don't work. I'm not exactly sure what could be wrong here, but broken shaders are often caused by not having the correct file path in the .shader file for the shader images and such, so that’s worth checking out.

One thing I especially liked about this pack though was that the swords each have different stances rather than using the default saber stances. They looked rather more cinematic and certainly some of them looked appropriate for a sword stance than the saber stances do. Lastly there also appeared to be some new sounds, at least for the saber activation and deactivation sounds, or should that be the sword sheathing and unsheathing sounds?

All in all good work here, although I think the models and textures could be polished a bit more. Nevertheless though a good quality sword model pack here, if you guys like the look of this, be sure to give it a download! :)
