Description
In this archive you will find a set of tools for rFactor released by game�s developers. They allow users to create their own content, including tracks and cars.
Public development tools
- The gMotor 2.0 Plugin and Viewer Tools are used to prepare and preview meshes for use in gMotor 2.0 applications. The Plugins require 3DS Max 5.x, 6.x, or 7.x to operate.
- The gMotor 2 Material (gMat) is the basic material assigned to every gMotor 2 primitive (triangle strip or triangle list). It supports DirectX Shader Model 1.0 and 2.0, as well as Fixed Function Pixel processing. Each gMat has its own Ambient, Diffuse, and Specular reflectivity colors, as well as a lighting-independent Emissive color for self-illumination effects. Each gMat also supports all alpha blend modes, with global translucency level in addition to any per-pixel translucency from individual texture maps.
- The gMotor 2 Texture (gTex) is the basic texture assigned to each stage of a gMotor 2 Material. Each gTex as its own settings for MIP mapping, compression, animation, and so on. Supported texture formats are DDS, TGA, BMP, JPG, and PNG.
- GMT Conveter. After installing the plugin components as described in the Installation section, open the Max Utility tab (hammer icon), and select the icon shown circled in red in the Max Utility Panel. This will launch the Configure Button Sets dialog. From here, set the number of buttons for the Utility panel, and drag the GMT Converter utility onto an empty button, as shown in the figure. Once completed, your Utility panel should be similar to the one shown in the Max Utility Panel with GMT Converter figure.
- The gMotor 2.0 MAS utility is used to create MAS archive files for use in gMotor 2.0 applications only. A MAS file is very similar to other well-known types of compressed archive files, and contains additional information specific to a gMotor application.
- The gMotor 2 Viewer is used to preview scenes created for gMotor 2 applications. Scenes can be viewed at any resolution, in windowed or fullscreen mode, with various shader and anti-aliasing options. Scenes can also be prototyped in various day/night lighting conditions, with optional sky transitions. Environmental light settings are configurable by the user from the Viewer options dialog. The user can move through the scene in ground-tracking mode (for large environments), or free-move mode (for smaller objects).
Because of the wide range of possible modifications and vast complexity of possible changes, ISI can not offer technical or other support in these areas. ISI can not be responsible for any events leading up to these changes or the result thereof. Use of these tools and changes to your original product are done at your own risk. Make sure to make a backup of the original rFactor directory and most of all, have fun!
