Here is an armed version of the Oberth Class, the USS Swan (Swan Class). This ship is armed with three forward and three aft phasers as well as a forward firing torpedo launcher. These ships aren't that powerful, although in groups these ships would be able to take on more powerful ships. The main role for this ship would be either an escort mission escorting convoys or patrol duties mainly because these ships on their own aren't really that powerful although can be used for a supporting role in a conflict.

The Black Swan-class sloop was the result of a splitting of the orginal Orca-class gunboat into two divergent design concepts. The other half of this concept required the removal of the Orca's heavy weapons and the repositioning of her third nacelle to become the Lewis & Clarke-class high-speed courier. This half removed the Orca's third nacelle but retained its heavy weapons.

Internally very similar to the Asmodeus-class corvette, the exclusion of the Miranda-class photon pod in favour of "mega" phaser cannons renders the Swan even more manoeuvreable and grants her superior close-range firepower at the expense of a heavy punch at extended ranges. More often than not, a Swan will operate with an Asmodeus to grant the escort group greater tactical flexibility as to defensive options.
