Lyran \"Z\"-series purchased Klingon fighters:

The Lyrans never developed a fighter of their own. Instead they purchased standard Klingon fighters. They were never very popular with the fleet commanders. Employing them in conjunction with their ESGs was problematic. With the aggressive nature of the Lyrans though, pilots were never in short supply.
