Description
Ah yes, the classic AT-AT pilot. Probably the most tempting of targets to reskin onto the TIE pilot model. Three times, I have now seen this happen. All have failed to get it 100% accurate. Why? The eyes on the TIE Pilot helmet differ vastly from the AT-AT pilots. The eyes on the former have wider lenses to compensate for vision space. I would argue they could just have a full visor instead of two lenses, but since they have such a confined viewport to look out of, it hardly matters. Regardless, the AT-AT pilots sport the traditional stormtrooper lenses, for some reason or another, so that's why It's a Trap(TM)

Despite this, this version gets closer and more interactive than the other two attempts. Attempt #2 was TK-962's(whereas #1 was [file="13110"]tried by JP-30[/file] in JK2,) as is this #3, but we've still got a ways to go before it's even close to accurate. So, first off, let's see what you got right:

- The helmet, sans the lenses

- The gloves

- The gray in the jumpsuit

and that's about it. Now, what needs to be added? Quite a bit. Because I want you to succeed so much in this, I'm going to give you this picture link:

This should allow you to view the pilot from every angle you need. Now, as you can see, the lower suit has the same set of harnesses a rebel pilot has. That in itself gives you a possible image to reference/borrow if need be. Now, the plate you have looks to be a cross between the snowtrooper plate, and the rebel padding. JP-30 did this too for some reason, but both of them are pretty much incorrect. Every image I've seen(plus an action figure I had from when I was a kid,) suggests that the plate is actually sort of a hemmed stormtrooper breastplate. It's hard to see, but it's there.

Now, concerning the pauldrons. Despite the inherent limitations of the model, JP-30 was indeed able to skin some on there, so we know it's not impossible. By all means, use whatever resources you can to make this thing the most accurate AT-AT pilot you can. You've got little competition, so might as well stamp them out now while you can.

With the criticism out of the way, a brief discussion of the features. This skin will replace your original TIE pilot, which isn't exactly a good thing. I'd recommend this feature be optional in the next version. There are team skins and bot support, but the team skins aren't very attractive, given they look to be just very bright recolors. There is also the option of a helmetless version, but it's basically the same textures applied to the Jedi model. Nothing fancy, but it does make this pack have that one little ounce of flare to make it unique.

If you need yourself an AT-AT pilot, be it for RP or just so you can be one for kicks, then I can say this is a fair choice for now. I definitely do wanna see a version 3 or 3.5 or whatever number you want to call it. This is a triumph in the making, I can feel it =_,=
