Here comes the New Year upon us and with that in mind a new mod to download. This one is a new blaster rifle made by Lukeman774. This blaster is made to stand alone and you will have to use the cheat console to get it in the first [i]Knights of the Old Republic[/i] game. Just get the code from the author’s readme file.

Judging by the work, the author just one of the most basic forms of modding and has a lot to learn about some simple adjustments to make just to make it more appealing. Now, one old fashion way to entice people to want your mod is to make it a strong which in this case you have a strong blaster to shoot. It would make picking off Vulkars quickly on Taris really fun while you’re still waiting to get your Jedi training.

So here comes the interesting part when the author decided to make a modified weapon. I can tell by the work that the author still has much to learn about the game system. He put a +10 in strength on the rifle. Yes, your strength attribute goes up, but you can’t use it since you’re using a ranged weapon and as soon as your switch to a melee weapon, that strength bonus is gone.

The author did however give you some extra damage caused by the rifle, which will work out well and enemies will be damaged much more than usual than the other blasters you can get regularly in the game. The author did add a new texture to the file. The problem is it will replace other rifle textures in the game depending on which blaster you choose to use outside of this mod. This is where the author could learn a simple trick to make a blaster like this a stand alone in terms of looks.

One thing the author could do is learn to item place. If you’re one of those people who likes this blaster in which it will give you, but don’t like the texture to it, just don’t install the [i] w_blstrrfl001.tga[/i] file. Enjoy the mod! :D
