Ahsoka Tanos Lightsaber Hilt

Fans of the Clone Wars series rejoice! Here we have another new mod for you based on that popular animated TV show; Ahsoka Tano’s Lightsaber Hilt! What is more it comes in both normal and back-handed flavours as well. But I will come to that a bit later.

First off lets have a look at the model itself, which I would say is pretty accurate. However it is not 100% accurate, at least not to the reference pictures I was able to find on the net. The little things that stick out at the top should be flat, not round. The main difference though is the pommel of the hilt, which shouldn’t curve in again at the end, at least on [b]one version[/b] of the hilt. Oddly there appears to be [i]two different versions[/i], each with a slightly different shape.

These are only small differences however, and overall I would say that this model is about 95% accurate to the actual hilt (one of the versions anyway).

The model itself is well made, and the texturing is also good, although they are fairly simple. Its nice to see that the author included normal and back handed variants here, allowing players to choose which version that would like. However, there is a slight issue here; the author has included a .cfg file which he says needs to replace the models/players/humanoid/animation.cfg for the back-handed animations to work properly. However I couldn’t actually find this file and even if I had, I am a little worried about replacing base JKA files like that. If you do I would definitely recommend backing up the original!

To be honest, the back-handed animations seemed to be just fine without the .cfg file, being a back-handed single saber variant of the dual saber animations, which actually looks really good!

As far as improvements go, all I would suggest is working a little more on the textures, maybe putting a little more detail into them, since they look a little flat. Perhaps a brushed aluminium texture would look cool?

Overall though good work here! Its nice to see more mod’s based on the Clone Wars series. Now all we need is an Ahsoka skin! ;)
