EgyptSOC (for Heretic)

I was looking all over the database at Doomworld and Realm667 for some really cool Egyptian textures to add to my Heretic resource bundle. There was no textures that I felt had the look for what I wanted for Heretic. The Hexen 2 and Serious Sam texture packs did not cut it for me. I then remembered downloading the EgyptSOC texture pack from Socks' homepage a while back and I thought these textures will be perfect. So I set out to convert them into Doom size and Heretic file format. It took a lot longer than I thought it was going to take. Here is the result.

I scaled the images down, removed the appropriate backgrounds, converted them into 8 bit indexed pings, made various sizes of a few of them, renamed some of them to fit Dooms 8 character filename convention and tested with Doom Builder with Heretic and in a Zdoom PK3 file.

I do however discourage use of these textures in any doom engine games except Heretic due to how awful they look in Doom and Hexen. They do however look great and work well in Heretic. I have not tested their use in Strife or any other Doom engine games. Additionally the wood textures do look terrible in Heretic but they might look good in Doom so I have included them anyway.

Don't forget to thank Sock and not me for the textures in your readme files. Also some credit for converting them into Doom and Heretic format would be nice. Download the Quake 3 originals at http://www.simonoc.com/ ...
